This series contains the second part of the staff file of Dr Clyde Cornwall Fenton, the whereabouts of the first part of the file is unknown. This file was transferred from the Department of Health, Katherine. The file contains correspondence and personnel reports, along with requests for the purchase of aircraft and reports of accidents and complaints. Dr Fenton was born at Warrnambool in Victoria on 16 may 1901 and died on 28 February 1982 aged 80 in Malvern, Victoria. Whilst Dr fenton graduated as a medical doctor, he also had a pilot's licence and founded the Northern Territory Aerial Medical Service in 1934 after he arrived in Katherine as the Government Medical Officer. He ran the service until the Second World War when he was called up to the RAAF and based at Manbulloo airstrip, effectively continuing to run a similar service but within the RAAF mandate. In August 1942 the No. 6 Communications Flight was formed with Flight Lieutenant Fenton in command. fenton left the Territory after the war, but the Aerial Medical Service continued. The contents of the file relating to personnel matters cover the period 1936 - 1946, with a newspaper cutting from "The Sun" of an interview with Dr Fenton from 1971.
